San Juan Silk was started 1990 in a small studio space above an office on San Juan Island, in northwest Washington. A tiny room, very large frames for stretching silk, a steamer, and one very dedicated and focused artist learning to paint with dyes on silk - Mary Sly. Since that time she and her partner have built their own studio. Starting with scarves, she has developed a variety of art, one of kind clothing to fantastic home décor. Mary designs all aspects of her own garments and artworks. She and Dan for the past 30 years have juried into the finest art shows and craft fairs, including the Smithsonian Craft show and the Philadelphia Museum show, throughout the United States. Now with our country struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic, art shows have been cancelled for this year, Mary is offering her sophisticated original hand painted silk pieces through this space.
